THE HAIR PROJECT
The image of beauty and acceptance has served as an identity backdrop. The expectation that everyone should be able to fulfill a beauty standards regardless of their ability to achieve it. I’ve always noticed that particularly for teenage girls, the opinion towards an individual's hair tends to be personally and culturally influenced based on said beauty standards. As I explore this conversation with other teenage girls, grown women, and myself, it appears as if when women are able to appropriate or reject these imposed images for themselves, they can experience liberation.
